Pembroke (English/Aromatic) - This is a really great English blend. The perfect ratio of Virginia to latakia, plus it's topped with Cognac. I find this is the perfect tobacco after a stressful day at work, or while driving in rush hour traffic on the freeway (as close as you can get to legally drinking and driving). I haven't tried Margate yet which I understand is Pembroke without the Cognac, so therefore I would probably have to say that Margate is superb as well. Damn, another review to do ; )
And So To Bed (English) - I don't know what to think of this blend. Don't get me wrong! I love it but it is strange. It has the classic "Esoterica" type scent to it but due to the fact that I don't have the palate to determine what they put in this (or any tobacco for that matter). Obviously it has latakia, and Virginias but it is different from say, Margate, much lighter.
Penzance (English) - One of my favorite tobaccos. Penzance comes in "mottled flakes" which are basically small cakes that crumble very easily. You don't have to "rub out" these flakes, simply squeezing them a bit seems to do the trick for me. It is very easy to pack. It has a very "smoky" latakia scent both in the tin, and while burning. It is not overpowering, it is a very pleasant, slightly sweet smoke. I call this my barbecue tobaccy, cuz to me it smells like barbecue in the tin.
St. Ives (English/Aromatic) - This is an "aromatic English" blend. I first tried this when I was "crossing over" to English blends. At first the pouch smell reminded me of MacBaren Plumcake. Upon further sniffing, I could detect the smoky scent of the latakia. The taste is very interesting, it doesn't really taste like an English, every now and then you can taste the English overtones of the blend. Mostly this tastes like an all Virginia blend topped with what I think is a light fruit casing.
Dunbar (English) - Smells grassy in the tin, mostly light tobacco (Virginias), with small flecks of dark (perique) a very fine cut, a little difficult to pack but worth being patient. Upon lighting, it tastes very much like its tin aroma, grassy. The aroma however is pleasant. My daughter says it smells like "roasting marshmallows" the taste is not too sweet, but pleasant and spicy from the perique, a very enjoyable smoke
Blackpool (Virginia/Aromatic) This tobacco reeks of black licorice big time. That worried me a bit on a tobacco that cost me about twenty-five bucks. Upon lighting it though, I calmed down, there is a very faint/slight licorice taste to it. When it mixes with the taste of the Virginias though, it really creates a nice taste/aroma. It passed the "car test" meaning the family thought it smelled good enough to allow me to smoke in the car. A nice change of pace.
Margate (English) - The tin says "best full English" hmmmmm. This is surely one of the best English blends that I have tried but as I suspected it tastes very much like Pembroke without the cognac topping. I have found that the latakia that Esoterica blends use is very different from other blends. There is definitely a smoky character there, but it is unlike any other blend that uses Latakia. Don't ask me what it is, but I like it!
ostatní směsi jsou též na jejich stránkách:
